MCMI YEAR IN REVIEW: 2021 WRAP UPS and NEW MUSIC!

Hearing how much has gone on in the world in 2021 makes us reflect on what WE have been doing, at MCMI, this past year or two. So we decided to take a moment and look back on a few things we accomplished, even under the circumstances of school shut downs, lockdowns, elections, protests and political unrest and the losses of iconic figures and personal friends, this past year.

Happy New Year from MCMI!

We hope you’ve had a chance to rest, celebrate and reflect on the past year and make plans for continued success in 2022. It’s been a wild ride trying to be independent artists and Hip Hop media during the Pandemic, but with love in our hearts, masks on our faces and Hip Hop on our minds, we keep pushing through!

I’m sure you know about the yearly WRAP UPS and B done by several artists (I believe Mad Skills from VA started it all 20 years ago, but who did it first is always hotly debated). Well even though it always seems gimmicky, we still listen to them every year, lol. They are mad entertaining, you have to admit. We’ve included a few here if you didn’t get to hear them all. Interestingly, both the originator Mad Skillz and fellow rap up writer Uncle Murda have stated in their verses that this year’s would be the last one, ending the tradition after 20 years.

Uncle Murda Rap Up 2021

Hearing how much has gone on in the world in 2021 makes us reflect on what WE have been doing, at MCMI, this past year or two. So we decided to take a moment and look back on a few things we accomplished, even under the circumstances of school shut downs, lockdowns, elections, protests and political unrest and the losses of iconic figures and personal friends, this past year.

Mad Skillz – Wrap Up 2021

This year we’ve got some new music, merch, podcasts and videos coming your way, but before we layout our plans for the future, we wanted to reflect on a few things we are grateful for, that we were able to accomplish in 2021.

the6ixers EP

LR Blitzkrieg & Bad Seed

the6ixers EP, La Bamba music video, merch and vinyl actually dropped 4th Quarter 2020, but we will include it here anyway (cause we can do that, son! rrrgh!!), as it was rocking out the whole 2021 and was played by several prominent DJ’s. The project was a collaboration between two members of The PLAGUE, LR Blitzkrieg and the Bad Seed, who both share the same February 6th birthday. Led by a video for the single La Bamba, that song and several others were supported by spins, cuts and premieres by DJ PREMIER, STATIK SELECTAH, DJ ECLIPSE (who also did cuts on La Bamba), DJ RIZ, SWAY and the legendary TONY TOUCH! We appreciate y’all!

LA BAMBA – LR Blitzkrieg & the Bad Seed

The video for LaBamba is upward of 52,000 views on youtube and for that we thank all of you. If you haven’t heard all of the joints on that project (you played yerself, lol), just hit the FLOW PAGE which has links to SPOTIFY, APPLE MUSIC, iTUNES, TIDAL, DEEZER, BANDCAMP and more. Rock, Rock, Rock On
The Robert “PH” Diaz Story

by Bryan Kayser

In 2021 the PH Book “Rock, Rock, Rock On – The Robert “PH” Diaz Story, by Bryan “SEVEN3ZERO” Kayser was finally completed, after an exhaustive amount of interviews conducted by author. It went up for Pre-orders on PH’s Birthday, September 17th, 2021. To secure your copy click here.

We spent a lot of time working with Bryan on the book, scanning in thousands of archival pictures and connecting him with people to interview for the project. It is not a bio of PH, but rather the telling of his story, through the lens of those who were close to him.

Interviewees include his family, longtime collaborators and friends, including Immortal Technique, Jean Grae, Poison Pen, Marco Polo, Dizaster, Bad Seed, LR Blitzkrieg, GMS, Organik, Tonedeff, PackFM, Substantial, Swave Sevah, NEMS, Mecca, Block McCloud, Mr. Metaphor, DJ DP-One, Wordsworth, Supastition, Lush One, Lexx Luthor, Screem Homi, Okwerdz, El Da Sensei, Thirstin Howl the Third, Steele, Bobbito, and many others.

Busta Rhymes wrote the foreword to Rock, Rock, Rock On, where he says, “This is all a testament to who he really was, especially from all the uncut love from the people.”

Rock, Rock, Rock On clocks in at over 400 pages and all proceeds to benefit the Diaz family.
