This is a Hip Hop Fest you don’t want to miss!

World Underground is having their Inaugural Festival this week at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens this Wednesday through Friday, August 29th – 31st, featuring Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Dave East, Azealia Banks & over 40 of the top underground emcees in the game. The festival was created by Armani Cooper, co-creator of Team Backpack.

Besides the headliners, there will also be

  • Music Conference (Guest Speakers from Lyricist Lounge and GPME agency)
  • International Emcee competition (10k$ grand prize and tour)
  • 3-Day Concert Series (featuring 40+ of your favorite EMCEES!)
  • Beat battles
  • Live hip-hop ciphers

I have to give it to them, they have great headliners, as well as actual underground artists as their title advertises. Many of these acts I have never heard of – hence “underground” – but at the same time, there are enough who I know to be legit, such as Locksmith, Ren Thomas, Mad Squablz, Chris Rivers and the Skull N Tones DJ crew, to name a few, that I expect to hear quality. They are exposing underground artists to new audiences, which is really what a fest that claims to be “underground” is supposed to do, salute to everyone involved.

You can get TICKETS to individual performances you care about, get a 1 day pass for $100 or a 3 day pass for $200. $10,000 for the Emcee Competition is a nice purse, so that should be a heated competition! More info, a detailed line up and instructions for the Emcee competition can be found on their website: worldunderground.com.

Here are some more artists and DJ’s you will see at the festival:
