Da Beatminerz Discuss Pete Rock & Smif-N-Wesson’s “MONUMENTAL”

If you have still not copped Pete Rock & Smif-N-Wesson’s “MONUMENTAL” – WTF R U WAITING 4?!? It’s a NO-BRAINER! You know the weight these two names hold. One is a seminal Hip Hop group from Brooklyn, who spawned classics as part of the Bootcamp Click / Duck Down Records movement. The other is often fondly referred to as one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time – AND he can spit, too!

But wait, perhaps you are too young to know about SMIF-N-WESSON’s “The Shining”. Maybe you were a toddler when Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s classic “Mecca & The Soul Brother” first dropped. I don’t care. John Lennon was dead by the time I started listening to music, but I still knew the music of the Beatles, Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix. Bird was long gone by the time I came into this world, but if I am a Jazz fan I have to know who Charlie Parker is.

Now imagine back in the day Jimi Hendrix had decided to produce a Led Zepplin album. That’s what this collaboration is to Hip Hop. MONUMENTAL.

Production duo Da Beatminerz (DJ EVIL DEE and MR. WALT), who are not too shabby themsleves, discuss what the collab album between PR and SNW means to them.
