PACKFM: LEGENDARY – Prod UG (Cella Dwellas) [Music Video]

PACKFM: LEGENDARY - Prod x UG (P9D) of Cella Dwellas [Music Video]

It’s been a few years since PACKFM has dropped any new music. The last thing I can recall is the single “Want What’s Mine” in 2011 and then the DOMINION meets HYDRA track “TWELVE“, which dropped 12/12/12. After that, there was the promise of “The Human Highlight Reel” coming in 2012 … … never happened. Well, this is not that, but it is a brand new song, with a video. It’s not from a specific project. It’s a Birthday present to his fans and to himself. See Pack is doing a 40th Birthday Party performance at DROM NYC tonight and so it was a perfect time for the QN5 MC to remind the world that he does this.

Produced by UG P9D (from CellaDwellas), recorded and mixed at Stonebrown Studios, the joint will definitely nod your head. It makes you want to rhyme, which is exactly why Pack returned after his long hiatus.

This track is a result of me just wanting to rhyme. Period. I don’t care about “views” or “likes” or blog posts, because none of those things have anything to do with how we as MC’s put words together. To me that is what makes what we do art. – PACKFM

Pack actually had this entire video shot by his wife using his phone, directed and edited it himself. If you want to catch him in a rare live performance, come to his 40th Birthday Celebration, tonight at Drom. These shows only come once a year. There will be a few surprise guests from MCMI, The Plague, Team Homi and UGHH in the building.

PackFM’s 40th Birthday Celebration June 16th – 8pm – 10:30pm DROM NYC

MCMI REPORT: CHORDZ CORDERO – A Day With My Favorite Producers

Chordz Cordero original lyrics over instrumentals by his favorite producers

MCMI REPORT: CHORDZ CORDERO - A Day With My Favorite Producers (Soultape)

Intaphaze/MCMI Records’ Chordz Cordero finally returns with his new solo project, “CHORDZ CORDERO – A Day With My Favorite Producers (Soultape)”. The songs were recorded in between albums, as a way to keep the creative juices flowing. Now it is available for free (or optional donation) on Bandcamp.

MCMI REPORT: CHORDZ CORDERO - A Day With My Favorite Producers (Soultape)I decided to release it now, to show love to all who have supported my official group album with Sir Manley, The HighBred and all my projects over the years. This gives fans some more music to listen to while I am working on a solo album and some more group projects, coming soon. – Chordz Cordero

Born out of his passion for Hip Hop & Soul, this “Soultape” explores Chordz’ many thoughts and emotions on his journey through life! “A Day With My Favorite Producers” was completely recorded and mixed by Chordz himself in his basement studio. It’s straight up Soul, unpolished and raw! Even so, he did do a video for one song, produced by Black Milk, called Street Life. The video was shot and edited by Chordz brother J’Mel Lu, who has been building his directorial resume with videos from King Jerz, V2, Rell Peso and of course, his brother Chordz, who co-directs some of the videos as well.

You can stream or download the rest of Chordz’ homage to his favorite producers from Bandcamp and if you missed The HighBred LP dropped last year, it is available as a CD and digital download as well. And don’t forget to check out the last HighBred video, 3rd Stone Blues ft PH aka Pumpkinhead, here. #ripPH

SUBSTANTIAL - MADE IN MARYLAND (produced by ODDISEE)

Plague-member and MCMI affiliate MC Substantial teams up with Mello Music Group’s fellow DMV native, the producer Oddisee for Made In Maryland, the first official single off his long awaited album, The Past Is Always Present In The Future. While Substantial spent a lot of time in New York early in his career , the song is an ode to Maryland, where he once again resides since he returned to his home state several years ago. If you are a Substantial fan then you must know Steph the Sapphic Songstress and DJ Jav, who are frequent collaborators with the prolific MC. Avoiding samples, the scratches and cuts you hear are off of vocals from Joe.D.

When ef@mm member QN5 Music’s Tonedeff heard the song, he was quoted as saying “S#!t so hard, I’m about to move there!” (Sidenote: Stan please make more hard s#!t like this so Tone can move, lol. Thanks.)

MCMI Report: GMS on Fresh Juice Radio - KVRU 105.7FM Seatle WA

Forgot to mention I appeared as a special guest on the Fresh Juice radio show in Seattle Washington a few weeks ago, Episode #327. The show is heard on KVRU 105.7fm but is also archived for playback on demand on MixCloud.com/freshjuicepodcast.

Rainier Valley Radio/KVRU is a listener-sponsored public radio station whose mission is

“to inform, educate and entertain through locally created and community-supported programming. KVRU’s programming priorities are based on our mission and vision, reflecting principles of public interest and cultural diversity.”

The show is hosted by D-Money, Jazzy Red & Sage Prince. The Episode features new commercial and underground Hip Hop and R&B, including new music from Common, Yelawolf, the Weekend and of course the new singles from PH and Chordz Cordero, Fly Away and 3rd Stone Blues.

The hosts discussed the Presidential debate and also talked with me (GMS) about the new MCMI releases plus video from the late great PH aka Pumpkinhead and Chordz Cordero. Of course I played their game show “What??” where they ask you five questions and you have to answer off the top with no pauses to think. Even though they said I did great I didn’t get any prizes! What’s up with that? Lol. Be sure to listen! Some of my answers might surprise you.

You can Download the show at https://www.mediafire.com/?xm8rq45w5jltc4p. If you want to be their next phone interview, contact: dbelles@live.com for music and inquiries and jazzyreddtheplug@gmail.com for Seattle area concert announcements.

Meanwhile back at MCMI we are setting up to relaunch our own MCMI RADIO, this time with a video format, coming soon, so stay tuned. You can catch up on the past episodes of MCMI RADIO when we were on BlogTalkRadio in association with 6thManRadio a couple years ago, here. Subscribe to our Youtube Channel to catch the new season, plus other music and interviews we put up from time to time.

And follow my channel on MixCloud if you don’t already, to hear my DJ mixes.

MCMI REPORT: Juggernaut War Party #AfroPunk BOTB Finals! July 8th, Brooklyn

Juggernaut War Party #AfroPunk BOTB Finals

Juggernaut War Party #AfroPunk BOTB Finals

Enter the Juggernaut! Founded by frontman Qaasim Middleton (American Idol, Naked Brothers Band and HBO’s Music In Me), Juggernaut War Party is quite a collective, consisting of Qaasim, (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Khalil (vocals, MPC), lead guitarists Jonah Hudson, Emmet Sher and Joseph Deadwiley, drummer Andres Valbuena, keyboardists Jack Gruber and Francisco Haye, with Ethan Cohn and Paul Johnson on bass.

You may remember Qaasim from his awesome run on American Idol Season 14, when he performed with Chris Brown and Pitbull and was lavished with praise from J-Lo, Harry Connick Jr. & Keith Urban. The Juggernaut War Party concept was birthed at AFROPUNK BATTLE OF THE BANDS BROOKLYN, on June 22nd, 2015, when Qaasim and his bandmates entered the contest to showcase their skills and original Rock/Rap/Funk fusion material. They did extremely well for a brand new group, making it to the very end, eliminated in the Finals. It was debatable, but all of the groups rocked out that year, so the band chalked it up to an awesome debut experience.

Right after that, Qaasim did his last show on the American Idol Tour at the Beacon Theater August 5th, 2015, then become a free agent. Since then he has been in the studio by himself and with the band, recording and polishing his sound for his debut release. JWP did their second show, October 10th, 2015, opening for Rakim and Corey Glover at the RESTORATION ROCKS MUSIC FESTIVAL.

This year, Qaasim & The Juggernaut War Party are back with a vengeance! They entered the AFROPUNK BROOKLYN BATTLE once again, and having won the online voting round and the preliminary round, they are back again at the finals, FRIDAY, JULY 8th, 2016! You can get tickets to the battle here. Let’s help them get this win!

Afropunk Battle 2016 flyer

The winners of the AFROPUNK Brooklyn Battle 2016 get a chance to play at this year’s AFROPUNK FEST BROOKLYN 2016 in Commodore Park, Saturday, August 27th & Sunday, August 28th. This years headliners include TV On The Radio, Cee-Lo Green, George Clinton, Saul Williams, Ice Cube, Jonelle Monae, Fishbone, Living Colour & Tyler the Creator, just to name a few, so whoever wins has the honor of rocking the same stage as those artists.

People have had questions about what Afropunk is, an organization? … a movement? … a genre? But one thing that is undisputed is that since the original Afropunk documentary in 2003, that highlighted a Black presence in the American punk scene, it has been a force to be reckoned with.

According to the organizer of AFROPUNK FEST BROOKLYN 2016,

“AFROPUNK is an influential community of young, gifted people of all backgrounds who speak through music, art, film, comedy, fashion and more. Remaining at the core of its mission are the punk principles of DIY aesthetics, radical thought and social non-conformity.”

For new artists, be they Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, hard rock, punk, alternative or experimental, if they have a live band and they are people of color, this is a platform for them to be recognized.  AFROPUNK can be a voice for the unwritten, unwelcome and unheard-of. Win or lose, it will definitely be the voice of the Juggernaut! Let the war party begin!!
