The BAD SEED & LR BLITZKRIEG are “The 6IXERS” [EP] prod by NOTTZ

New EP The 6iXers by The Bad Seed & LR Blitzkrieg produced entirely by Grammy nominated hip hop producer Nottz

The BAD SEED & LR BLITZKRIEG are “The 6IXERS”.

Prod by NOTTZ, this collection of heatrocks is super Boom Bap, has the sonic qualities that got it played on DJ’s from Statik Selectah’s #SHOWOFFRADIO, to DJ Premier’s #LiveFromtheHeadquarters, to DJ Eclipse & DJ Riz‘ #RapIsOuttaControl even before it dropped, with the attitude of protesters turned rioters, who’ve had enough of this 2020 bullshit.

Got a problem you need solved? someone you need to make “disappear”? call The 6iXers!

The 6ixers has equal parts tough talk, humor, hardcore realism, social commentary and enough lyricism to satisfy any connoisseur of fine Hip Hop. The longtime friends and members of The Plague, are also united by their brotherhood with the late great underground king Robert PUMPKINHEAD “PH” Diaz, plus share the same birthday (February 6), which inspired the name, so you might say it was fate. The two have been on Plague tracks together in the past, but have wanted to do a project like this for years.

Speaking of Pumpkinhead, he is featured on the infectious “Got Your 6ix”, while the 6ixers are joined by Planet Asia on the neck-breaking track “Riot Music”. Cuts by Tone Spliff and DJ Eclipse are the icing on the cake.

FLOWPAGE

And the beats? … Oh yeah, they BANG!! Super Producer NOTTZ put his foot all the way in this one. I have my favorites, but honestly, you can rock this 8-track EP straight through (6 songs, 2 skits), without touching the skip button.

If you are familiar with Nottz work – “Home Sweet Home” (Lord Have Mercy/M.O.P), “Dangerous MC’s” (Notorious B.I.G/Busta Rhymes), “W.O.L.V.E.S.” (Krumbsnatcha/M.O.P.), “Say Dat Then” (Slaughterhouse), and more recently several tracks off of Busta Rhymes ELE 2, including “Slow Flow” (with Ol’ Dirty Bastard) and “Look Over Your Shoulder” (ft Kendrick Lamar), just to name a few – then you are going to call this “CLASSIC Nottz!” Discog: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nottz_production_discography)

I personally was introduced to Nottz when he and The Bad Seed first collaborated on the songs “Uhhnnh” and “For The Kids”. If you want to do your homework, look those classics up. Nottz’ track record since then is impressive, but it’s nice to see he still puts in work with independent artists. He even circled back around and hooked up with Bad Seed again a couple years ago for “No Way In Hell”.

Fast forward to 2020 and this project is a PROBLEM! Major label or Indie, a great song is a great song and The Bad Seed and LR Blitzkrieg (listen on SPOTIFY) have been putting out classic material on the independent scene for years. Both have dropped music with groups (Hydra, The Plague, OBS) and solo. Seed reps 6th Man Entertainment and Blitzkrieg is co-founder of the MCMI, the label, clothing brand and creators of this actual website!

Both also know how to play supporting roles, from touring with Mims and Miri Ben Ari, to performing and producing music in groups with PH, Jean Grae and others. So when these two friends of 20 years – who just happen to share the same birthday, get together over an album of Nottz beats? … What’d you expect would happen?

SLAUGHTERHOUSE: Glass House [download] + Tour Info

Slaughterhouse is backFor the title of this next album, Slaughterhouse is sticking’ to the script, the “house” metaphor. They had Slaughterhouse, On The House and Welcome to: Our House. Sonically, their formula is simple: hard beats with four of the most lyrical wordsmiths each trying to outdo one another non every track. With the exception of “Goodbye” off of Our House in 2012, which was about loss of a loved one (remix featuring Fat Joe dedicated to Chris Lighty), for the most part, the quartet’s content has been 1 part street, 1 part slick pimp sh-t, 2 parts extra lyrical bravado.

But now on this new album, ‘Glass House‘, due out later this year, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz – are going to get personal. Crooked I told VIBE in a recent interview:

“We were going through different things personally in our life and it just shines through the music,” said Crooked. “That’s what’s going to make it relatable to the fan. It’s everyday struggles, everyday pain, everyday obstacles. You’re going to go through a journey when you listen to this album.”

Glass House will be executive produced by Just Blaze, but that doesn’t mean he is handling all the production. Just has recruited J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Cardiak, AraabMuzik and Illmind already and it is rumored DJ Premier may contribute to the album as well.

Slaughterhouse is currently on their Glass House Tour. I dare you to throw stones!!

The lead-single from Marco Polo’s forthcoming LP, PA2: The Director’s Cut, accomplishes what no one else has been able to pull off in over a decade–reunite Organized Konfusion. Since the duo disbanded in 1997, there has been no new OK material and every few years or so the usual “reunion rumors” emerge and then disappear.

Marco Polo’s forthcoming LP, PA2: The Director’s Cut will be released on 11-12-2013 via SoulSpazm Records and features appearances from Talib Kweli, DJ Premier, Posdonous, Masta Ace, Kardinal Offishall, Styles P, Lil Fame, Alchemist, Oh No, MC Eiht, King Tee, Michael Rapport, Large Professor, Inspectah Deck, Rah Digga, Slaine, Ill Bill, Organized Konfusion, Doppelgangaz & many more.

Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap (Trailer)

tech n ice

Back in the days when i was a teenager… myself and GMS (MCMI co-owners) met Kevin Fitzgerald aka DJ Organic in central park at a summer stage concert. He was traveling around filming what would later become the critically acclaimed Documentary “Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme” We introduced him to the MC’s we knew, took him to the events we threw and frequented, helped plug him in to the new york Hip Hop scene and even made cameos along with PackFM, Mr.Mecc, Substantial & PH – our fellow crew members from “The Plague” Flash Forward over a decade and a new documentary with the same great feel, love (and many of the same artist) directed by Ice-T is about to hit the big screen….

Synopsis:
Ice-T takes us on an intimate journey into the heart and soul of hip-hop with the legends of rap music. This performance documentary goes beyond the stardom and the bling to explore what goes on inside the minds, and erupts from the lips, of the grandmasters of rap. Recognized as the godfather of Gangsta rap, Ice-T is granted unparalleled access to the personal lives of the masters of this artform that he credits for saving his life. Interspersed with the performers’ insightful, touching, and often funny revelations are classic raps, freestyle rhymes, and never before heard a cappellas straight from the mouths of the creators. What emerges is a better understanding of, and a tribute to, an original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation.

Shout out to my brother Keith “Wild Child” Middleton for the assist!
