B.O.B. f. Yaslin Bey (Mos Def) & T.I. – “Boom Bap”

I’ve been seeing this around the internet as “B.O.B. f. Mos Def & T.I.”, but for those who don’t know, Mos changed his name to Yaslin Bey. This may have been recorded before he did that.

At any rate, all 3 MC’s kill it somethin’ special on this one. It feels real organic and pure. The drum pattern is on some real underground Brooklyn Hip Hop sh*t, but the sound effect over the beat makes it somewhat Pop-ish, like I could hear this on Top 40 radio as well. The MC’s just seem to lay into the beat, like they are rhymin’ for fun in a cypher, trying to show off for each other, not worrying about bars or format, just lettin’ loose their newest favorite verse for y’all. Come to think of it, that’s probably exactly what they did. This is off B.O.B’s new mixtape “E.P.I.C. – Every Play Is Crucial”
