SEAN PRICE (RIP) & SMALL PROFESSOR’S COLLAB LP, ’86 Witness is a collaborative album from the late Sean Price and producer Small Professor. Check out the first single, “John Gotti”. Although it features AG Da CoronerGuilty Simpson, and Your Old Droog, hometown hero Sean P sets it off right away as soon as the record drops.

Of course everyone on the track spits impressive bars (or I wouldn’t have thrown it up) The single is an instant download with iTunes pre-order for 86 Witness, which is also available now for pre-order in a limited magenta/black swirl vinylCD with bonus content, and bundle package equipped with a “Refrigerator P” jersey-style T-shirt.

“Lyrically, P pays homage to the year 1986 with clever bars boasting slick, pop culture-referencing wordplay. He big-ups the Bears’ Super Bowl XX win on “Refrigerator P”; references Herbie Hancock’s time-honored Round Midnight OST on “Midnight Rounds”; shows love to Just Ice’s “Latoya” on the Quelle Chris-featured “Latoya Jackson”; and dedicates track six to John Gotti with the help of AG Da Coroner, Guilty Simpson and Your Old Droog.

Throughout the rest of the album, P spits slick nods to Boogaloo Shrimp, Joe Joe Dancer, Sinbad, and other characters central to that era. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Ruckus project without mentions of the man who inspired his ‘Mic Tyson’ alias. And sure enough, sound bytes from the heavyweight bruiser appear on closer, “Word to Mother.”” – Press Release

The album, which includes additional guest features from Rock, Quelle Chris, Illa Ghee, Elucid, Caste, Zilla Rocca, Reef the Lost Cauze, DJ Revolution and more is due out Feb 08 as a dual-label release via Coalmine Records and Duck Down Music.

According to the official Press Release,

86 Witness is a testament to both Hip-Hop’s Golden Era, and the unbelievable talents of Sean Price, one of the genre’s biggest and best voices who was taken from us far, far too soon. His hilarious, tack-sharp rhymes are complemented by the imaginative and dusty production of Philly’s Small Professor, who may just be rap’s best kept secret.”

Younger heads will appreciate Sean’s classic witty punchlines, wordplay and no-holds-barred hip hop ethic of brutal honesty, at times self-depreciating and always rugged, yet humorous. Veteran’s closer to the God’s age will delight in 80’s references and celebrated nomenclature. Every Hip Hop head will appreciate music that knocks. Salute Sean Price! Sean lives on! #RIP

MCMI REPORT: 3rd STONE BLUES ft PH & Trademark Massey [Single] off The HIGHBRED LP

3rd STONE BLUES ft PH & Trademark Massey

On the anniversary of PH’s passing MCMI Records, Intaphase & Man@Work present 3rd Stone Blues feat PH & Trademark Massey the next single off of The HighBred LP by Chordz Cordero & Sir Manley, with production from Boonie Mayfield and a visit from Robert “PH’ Diaz aka Pumpkinhead, Mr. Orange Moon Over Brooklyn himself!

3rd STONE BLUES ft PH & Trademark Massey

If you didn’t know, one of PH’s roles in MCMI Records was President of A&R. He worked with groups and brought people through to MCMI to meet us that he thought we should work with. One of those artists he introduced us to was Chordz Cordero. With Chordz’ talent (he sings, raps, plays trumpet and is a great songwriter), ear for dope beats and incredible work ethic, he certainly is a good fit for the brand. Cordero hooked up with Sir Manley, they got beats from Boonie and the rest is history!

3rd Stone Blues is special to us, because it is the last song released on MCMI before PH passed away, a mere 6 days later. Chordz first verse is prophetic, because he raps

“My heart can’t take another loss of a favored friend”

after a lamenting acapela intro with beatboxing by Chordz himself (triple threat!). It’s eerie, almost as if he made the song as a requiem, but the song was recorded long before PH left us, so the two friends definitely had a strong spiritual connection. Here is a picture of the two of them taken by Natty Night photography in 2010.

3rd STONE BLUES ft PH & Trademark Massey

On the song, PH talks about feeling “biologically different“, as in not of this Earth. If you subscribe to the “Ancient Aliens” theory you know what he is talking about. He drops gems of knowledge and wisdom and exposes the Illuminati at the same time. PH was truly a gifted lyricist and this verse perfectly illustrates just how nice he was.

More music by PH is on the way! In the meantime, check out the last album he released, KNOW THE LEDGE, with classics like KING LATIFAH, NOW YOU KNOW COUNTY OF KINGS, NEVAH HAVE, HOW TO BATTLE and many more. And check out the rest of THE HIGHBRED LP. The whole album is incredible!

Mobb Deep – Say Something Produced By !llmind

Friend to MCMI, producer !llmind is always known for that heat. Whether he is producing something for underground spitters like Skyzoo, veteran artists like Redman, or 50 Cent and G-Unit, you know your head is going to nod if it says “produced by !llmind” on it. So Mobb Deep – Say Something produced by !llmind, off of the Queens duo’s new album The Infamous Mobb Deep, is a treat we are happy to share with you.

The Infamous Mobb DeepThis is their second single (the first was “Taking You Off Here”) off of their new album, which celebrates the 20-year anniversary of their classic effort The Infamous. The double-disc LP contains new joints and all of the classics from the original LP, plus extra content from their original studio sessions.

Over the years, on wax battles with other major artists, beef, jail bids and reported internal differences have not stopped Mobb Deep from consistently releasing classic material. Throw on any album of theirs, from any era, and you are sure to find bangers that make you wanna “rock that sh*t, that real life sh*t,” ’cause “when my n*ggaz step in the place
damn, you gotta luv it.”

Listen to the joint, then head over to Amazon to support this classic Hip Hop group’s newest effort.

PH – “County of Kings” ft. ShaStimuli, Skyzoo, Ruste Juxx, LR Blitzkrieg (Single)

PH feat. Sha Stimuli, Skyzoo, Ruste Juxx, & LR Blitzkrieg

“County of Kings” Produced by The Beatgees

Brooklyn MC PH (formerly Pumpkinhead), has teamed up with some of Brooklyn’s best MC’s for the new anthem County of Kings, off his soon to be released album KNOW The LEDGE, a precursor to the highly anticipated project, The Revenge Of Radames on MCMI Records.

PH says,

“Brooklyn needed a new anthem, something fresh, new and something that maintains and represents the gritty nature of my borough, so I enlisted some friends for this task in the form of Sha Stimuli, Skyzoo, Ruste Juxx, and label mate LR Blitzkrieg. Along with me, these 4 mc’s each add a jewel in the crown that is Brooklyn. The County of Kings”.

This song will be played in the same vein as Crooklyn Dodgers – a new generation of representatives for a new generation of music lovers, as PH spits bars like:

“We from where gangs is everywhere, fathers is never there / where they clap chrome the backbone of the eastern hemisphere / you shop on Rodeo Drive? We shop on Fulton Ave, you ride in limousines? We ride in dollar vans/ your favorite rappers alive? Our favorite rapper died/ If you an outcast you get cast out and cast aside/ If you put a nine year old on blast, he might blast a nine. The flyest borough. Too thorough, you can’t deny!”

The complete project “KNOW The LEDGE“, a street album of all new original music from PH, drops August 9th, 2011 on MCMI Records. The Clean, Explicit and Instrumental versions are packaged individually and together on iTunes, Amazon and most digital stores, internationally. If you just want the “main” version, you can head over to MCMI’s BandCamp page, where you are also able to Pre-Order the album.

Those who Pre-Order get the single County of Kings (Explicit) and Hollywood (Free Bonus Download!) right away and will be mailed the link to download the rest of the album on or before August 9th, the official release date.
