Shabaam Sahdeeq – “That Dope” ft Wais P & Sha Stimuli (Album: Keepers of the Lost Art)

Shabaam Sahdeeq – “That Dope” ft Wais P & Sha Stimuli (Prod. by DJ Skizz)

Shabaam Sahdeeq

Shabaam Sahdeeq is back with the much anticipated album, Keepers of the Lost Art! S-Dub definitely brings the lyrics on this one, complimented by beats from Ran Reed, Lewis Parker, DJ Dister, DJ Ready Cee and DJ Skizz to name a few. Despite setbacks such as a prison bid, haters and industry bullsh-t,  the Brooklyn vet is motivated to stay in the game and fight for the culture along with other Keepers of the Lost Art. On the DJ Skizz produced street banger “That Dope,” Shabaam is joined by two of Brooklyn’s finest – Wais P and Sha Stimuli. Party rocking’ DJ’s will be happy to throw on  the  dance friendly “Fall In Line” produced by DJ Wonder.

Keeper of the Lost Art coverBut anyone who sees the album cover art and title of this gem will instantly understand where S-Dub and his collaborators (Tragedy Khadafi, REKS, El Gant, Wais P, Sha Stimuli, Skyzoo, F.T., Mic Handz, General DV, Spit Gemz, and Bekay) are coming from. Hip-Hop’s younger generation has gone astray. The airwaves are filled with so much simplified, watered down pop rap that the true art of Hip Hop is being lost. It is up to the keepers of the lost art to guard and protect Hip Hop, like the guardians in the classic si-fi movie ‘The 5th Element,’ in order to maintain and preserve it for future generations. Those youth who seek out the truth only need look towards the solid gold boombox, jewel crusted crowns, drum machines, and outboard gear, that adorns the album cover.

“Imagine the world came to an end in an apocalypse and some kids survived in a bunker,” Shabaam Sahdeeq explains about the cover art. “Now when the dust settles and the smoke is gone, the kids come out the bunker and discover a treasure chest in an old music store that contains all the elements of Hip-Hop, and started having fun with it.”

If this album was in that treasure chest, representing the Elements of the DJ and the MC, those kids would be in pretty good shape. For your first hit of the dopiness, start off with “That Dope”, then dig deeper in the treasure chest yourself.
