M Pire Magazine gets an exclusive interview with lyricist, producer and actor, MCMI’s Keith “Wild Child” Middleton. Known for his NY underground Hip Hop group HYDRA and crew The PLAGUE, and his years in the hit musical show STOMP at the Orpheum Theater, the WildChild speaks out on his new album of Spoken Word and original music, “Transitions”.
Last year MCMI Records dropped the HYDRA song “Love Is …” right before Valentine’s Day. The song “Love Is …”, produced by Keith “WildChild” Middleton, is a celebration of the Love of Hip Hop and a challenge to any rappers who do this for the money, without a true Love for the art.
Now in 2014, on Valentine’s Day, we present yo you … “The LOVE IS Mixtape”, mixed by DJ GMS, with a special intro from LR Blitzkrieg and testimonials from Masta Ace, Torae, Sha Stimuli, PackFM, Substantial, Chordz Cordero, Rich Medina, DP One, WildChild and many more, talking about what Hip Hop means to them.
This 80 minute continuous blend of amazing music is a tribute to all the Hip Hop songs that celebrate Love of music, Love of the culture, Love of being in the studio, and Love of making something special for the people!
There are so many great artists on this CD, from The ROOTS, to SLUM VILLAGE, TORAE, MASTA ACE, BUSTA RHYMES, COMMON, MOS DEF, NAS, SCARFACE, ATCQ, ERYKAH BADU, SOUL PURPOSE, PHAROAHE MONCH, SNOOP, Dr. DRE, DE LA SOUL … the list goes on and on. And of course, HYDRA!
So the next time you are in the mood for some “Love & Hip Hop”, put down the TV remote and put on “The LOVE IS Mixtape” – absolutely, 100% FREE!!! If you want to support, show your Love by coming to an event, copping a Tee or Sweatshirt off MCMIapparel.com, or other music on MCMI Records.
Okay so you’ve probably heard of STOMP, the International stage show where they act crazy onstage and bang out beats on just about EVERYTHING except a musical instrument (brooms, garbage cans, tubes and buckets are some of their favorites). But you might be wondering why MCMIreport.com is posting an article about one of the longest running cast members of the show, Keith “WildChild” Middleton. Well the answer is simple. This is the same WildChild who is one third of the group HYDRA, co-founder of the underground Hip Hop crew The PLAGUE!
He is also a talented musician, composer, super producer (check the tracks “Twelve” and “Love Is …“, for examples) and my very own “brother from another mother.” (I am actually the friend he is talking about in the piece, who did magic shows for money at age 12 and then ran to the studio to make rap demos.) So, when NewYork.com put up this awesome interview, as one of their “COOL JOBS Q & A” stories, I had to share it with y’all.
* UPDATE: WildChild is gearing up to release a solo album of his original music and spoken word, early 2014, as well as more music from HYDRA and The PLAGUE. Click to FIND OUT MORE about his album “TRANSITIONS“.
was recorded on 12/12/12 and is now released on 12/21/12. The track is exactly 4:35 in length (4+3+5= 12).
The Plague is a crew of Hip Hop artists, formed in the late 90’s, whose membership has changed over the years. Current membership is GMS (co-founder), LR Blitzkrieg (co-founder), WildChild (co-founder), PH (co-founder), DJ DP ONE, PackFM, MrMecc, Tonedeff, Session, Substantial, Bad Seed, ArchRival and Poison Pen. Most of the Plague got their start battling and performing on the NY underground Hip Hop music. Although they have never released an official album together, they released two self-titled mixtapes in the early 2000’s and the crew is featured on individual members projects.
The Plague recently suffered the loss of one of their founders, PH aka Pumpkinhead aka Robert Diaz, who passed away due to medical complications on June 9th, 2015. PH was loved throughout the underground hip hop community, the battle rap scene and by friends and fans throughout he world. His passing was reported by major news and music outlets, including CNN, TIME, RollingStone, Billboard, Pix11, NYDailyNews, MTV, BET and every Hip Hop and battle rap website. #RIPPH was a trending topic on Facebook & Twitter in the following 24hours. Here are eulogies from MCMI & QN5.
The crew is currently working on a PH Tribute EP/Album to be released jointly through all of their labels and promoted by the entire collective, proceeds of which will be a future revenue stream for PH’s family. Saddened by the loss, the crew is nonetheless inspired and motivated to produce the best work possible, in the name of their fallen brother in arms.
