MCMI REPORT: Shabaam Sahdeeq – Men of Respect ft Pumpkinhead, Torae, 8thW1

Shabaam Sahdeeq

Shabaam Sahdeeq’s new album Modern Artillery drops next Tuesday, October 13th! Shabaam is laying out all the stops with this release – graphic art, videos, Limitted cassette tape edition, a future vinyl pressing in the works, heavy hitting features (Torae, Ruste juxx, PH, Reef tha Lost Cause & more), with one producer – Big Ape – keeping the whole project cohesive.

I am looking forward to the rest of the album, but for now … this joint right here? … Shabaam Sahdeeq – Men of Respect is a really dope record. Sahdeeq’s flow is fresh and invigorated, like he is a new artist just coming out (can you believe this dude was on Rawkus Records Soundbombing? Then again, so were Eminem, Mos Def and Talib Kweli and they are not slowing down either). Big Ape’s production is crazy, heads will nod, no question and then you have Torae, 8thW1 (who I am unfamiliar with, but am feeling the verse) and from beyond the grave, the Underground King, Pumpkinhead aka PH.

I think I’ve said enough. You know what to do – hit play, feel the joint and get ready for the full project, Tuesday. After you check the single, peep the promo video, complete with animation style artwork of the features on the album.

Shabaam SahdeeqShabaam Sahdeeq – Keepers Of The Lost Art (Official Video)

Sahdeeq-Album-cover350The album “Keepers of the Lost Art” has been bubbling for awhile. Packed with dope tracks from S-dubb -aka- Shabaam Sahdeeq, the veteran Brooklyn spitter who first blessed us with vinyl on Rawkus Records in the 90’s and was one of the first to recognize the talents of a then unsigned Eminem, featuring him on his single “5 Star Generals” back in the day, this album is a recipient of an Underground Music Award for best indie album of 2014. This video was on youtube then removed and reloaded twice due to mistaken content issues which have since been cleared up (you know how youtube is). It’s back up, so I thought I’d throw it up here, to give it some more light.

If you missed this album, you should definitely grab it, it is full of that boom gap original New York rap, with tons of features and an excellent beat selection.

SHABAAM SAHDEEQ – “SKILLET” (Prod. by DJ READY CEE)

Shabaam Sahdeeq cooks on this aptly titled DJ Ready Cee track. I have been a Shabam Sahdeeq supporter ever since his Rawkus days and lately, he has reignited his career with bangers like this one. His last LP Keepers of the Lost Art was a classic and I see he has no plans of slowing up. The flame is turned up real high on this one. Salute.
