Concrete Waves(Rmx) FT. Vicky Green by MazziSOULPurpose

Fresh remix off of the “Digital Diggin” EP! Mazzi & S.O.U.L Purpose are back with another fly single to make your earrings jingle! I’ve known Mazzi for ages (since before he was “breakin’ records”), but although I’ve seen Vicky Green at numerous parties and Hip Hop functions, I had yet to hear her voice. She sounds good!

*** UPDATE: Mazzi & Vicky Green will be guest on “MCMI RADIO: Real Hip Hop. Real Talk.” Friday, August 17th, at 8pm.  You can find the show here, on or after 8pm: MCMI RADIO. Call in to speak with them & the hosts at (646) 478-3599.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & Señor Kaos “Peter Piper” (Jam Master Jay tribute)

Peter Piper Jazzy Jeff Senor Kaos Mick Boogie
My Adidas (A Tribute To Run-DMC)Got this from the homie Mazzi (S.O.U.L. Purpose). Senor Kaos is a dope new MC on the come up. Jazzy Jeff is of course the legendary producer/DJ for the Fresh Prince whose collaborations always lead to critical acclaim. This is a good look for Senor Kaos. Jazzy Jeff is of Jam Master Jay’s generation, but it’s good to see young artists like Kaos paying homage and to the late DJ/producer who produced RunDMC, Onyx, The Afros and early 50 Cent. Who knows what he would have added to Hip Hop culture in his later days had his life not been tragically cut short in an as of yet still unsolved murder.

The song is part of Mick Boogie’s tribute to Jam Master Jay “My Adidas”, sponsored by NiceKicks and MixStream. Senor Kaos supplies the flows and Jeff gives us cuts & scratches over the original Peter Piper beat produced by Jam Master Jay. HOT97’s Funk Master Flex has called this the perfect Hip Hop beat. I have to agree. I was a kid when the original jam came out and I can still listen to this beat forever. JMJ rest in peace.

Mazzi & S.O.U.L. Purpose “Squeeze Freestyle” (in Tokyo)

Mazzi has been putting up “Quick Flick” freestyles, while traveling the globe. His last one was in Sao Paolo Brazil. This one finds the leader of S.O.U.L Purpose in Tokyo. This one’s called “Squeeze Freestyle”.

Mazzi & S.O.U.L. Purpose “Squeeze Freestyle”… A visit to Tokyo, Japan results in a show, event, & shooting of a Quick Flick (A favorite verse/s, whether new or old, that never got put to video) while he’s there!

If you slept on the last couple of videos from Mazzi & S.O.U. Purpose, there’s more after the jump! (more…)

Mazzi & S.O.U.L. Purpose ft Maya Azucena “Love Is Love” (video)

Mazzi
Ya boy Mazzi (of S.O.U.L. Purpose) knocked one out of the park with this one. The video is very clever and well directed. (There are no director credits so I’m not sure by who.) The song itself is a winner, featuring the soulful voice  of Maya Azucena. The lady can sang (I spelt it right!). Mazzi comes in with a great rhythmic cadence for this 2/4 beat, played by the band in the video. (I wonder was it cut by the band or is it a produced track, sampling some classic Mowtown record?) Lyrics are on point. Although a “love song”, Mazzi drops subtle science here and there, like

“I get money and respect, not respect cause of money”

Mazzi and MayaAs dope as it is, the video doesn’t take itself too seriously. Maya and Mazzi sing and dance playfully, bringing Hip Hop back to what it originally started out as – spreading love and having fun. Amidst all the bragging and boasting, gansterism, beefs, battles and drug dealer/money talk that is pervasive these days, MC’s need to take it back to the essence, yet at the same time, not be corny. I truly appreciate when it is done well.

Shout out to JumpOffTV for featuring quality.
