MCMI REPORT: M-Dot – ‘SHINE’ Ft. Method Man, Dominique Larue & Katy Gunn (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

These are the visuals for Boston lyricist M-Dot’s 1st official single “Shine” off his long awaited debut album “Ego and the Enemy” (2 part CD release). The track features Method Man (Wu Tang Clan), Dominique Larue & Katy Gunn and was produced by Soulplusmind.

M-Dot – “Shine” ft. Method Man, Dominique Larue, Katy Gun

The Wu-Tang’s Method Man doesn’t do many features.  The only recent one I know of is Load Luxx’s single “Rite” which featured both Method Man and Redman. So I was curious to hear this single “Shine” from the Boston MC M-Dot also featuring Dominique Larue, with California producer Soulplusmind on the boards and New York vocalist Katy Gunn on the hook. The results add up as the track is a banger. Meth sets the tone making this official tissue, followed by Dominique Larue who spazzes lyrically and M-Dot bats clean up with a killer verse to wrap things up. Katy Gun nails the chorus, so what else is left? This is a dope record. And no need for a “radio edit” as not one of the MC’s on this have any profanity in their verse.

“Shine” is off of M-Dot’s two part debut album “Ego and the Enemy” (in stores sometime in 2015). What’s finished of the album has production by Hi-Tek, Marley Marl, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, and 7L so far.

LOADED LUX – “Rite” ft. METHOD MAN & REDMAN (Video)

Loaded Lux, Red & Meth

After winning his bout against Calicoe in what is arguably the biggest event of modern day battle rap history,Lux is looking to capitalize of his elevated status in hip hop. He does just that with his first single “Rite” featuring Red Man and Method Man. Shot in Lux’s hometown Harlem NYC. He and the blunt brothers get busy on a track with that era 90’s feel and yet it still holds current, and Red and Meth spit some of the best verses Iv’e heard from them in a loooong time. Be on the lookout for Loaded Lux’s project “You Gon’ Get This Work” dropping soon.

HIT SQUAD REUNION SHOW (NYC) – Review, History Lesson & Video Footage

HIT SQUAD

Last night New York experienced an incredible reunion show by the original Hip Hop crew that paved the way for the Rocafela Dynasty, YMCMB and just about any other hip hop crew that came after. In the early 90’s the Hit Squad established dominance as the ultimate hardcore “super-crew” consisting of EPMD, Redman, K-Solo, and Das EFX. It was on EPMD’s third (and some say best) album, Business As Usual that the “Hit Squad” was first mentioned. That album featured Redman. K-Solo had been featured on an earlier album and Das EFX on their next one, Business Never Personal, which also contained the mega hit “Headbanger“.

Full article and video of “Headbanger” performed live @ Best Buy Theater February 24th, 2012 after the jump. (more…)
