SEAN PRICE (RIP) & SMALL PROFESSOR’S COLLAB LP, ’86 Witness

SEAN PRICE (RIP) & SMALL PROFESSOR’S COLLAB LP, ’86 Witness is a collaborative album from the late Sean Price and producer Small Professor. Check out the first single, “John Gotti”. Although it features AG Da CoronerGuilty Simpson, and Your Old Droog, hometown hero Sean P sets it off right away as soon as the record drops.

Of course everyone on the track spits impressive bars (or I wouldn’t have thrown it up) The single is an instant download with iTunes pre-order for 86 Witness, which is also available now for pre-order in a limited magenta/black swirl vinylCD with bonus content, and bundle package equipped with a “Refrigerator P” jersey-style T-shirt.

“Lyrically, P pays homage to the year 1986 with clever bars boasting slick, pop culture-referencing wordplay. He big-ups the Bears’ Super Bowl XX win on “Refrigerator P”; references Herbie Hancock’s time-honored Round Midnight OST on “Midnight Rounds”; shows love to Just Ice’s “Latoya” on the Quelle Chris-featured “Latoya Jackson”; and dedicates track six to John Gotti with the help of AG Da Coroner, Guilty Simpson and Your Old Droog.

Throughout the rest of the album, P spits slick nods to Boogaloo Shrimp, Joe Joe Dancer, Sinbad, and other characters central to that era. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Ruckus project without mentions of the man who inspired his ‘Mic Tyson’ alias. And sure enough, sound bytes from the heavyweight bruiser appear on closer, “Word to Mother.”” – Press Release

The album, which includes additional guest features from Rock, Quelle Chris, Illa Ghee, Elucid, Caste, Zilla Rocca, Reef the Lost Cauze, DJ Revolution and more is due out Feb 08 as a dual-label release via Coalmine Records and Duck Down Music.

SEAN PRICE (RIP) & SMALL PROFESSOR’S COLLAB LP, ’86 Witness

According to the official Press Release,

86 Witness is a testament to both Hip-Hop’s Golden Era, and the unbelievable talents of Sean Price, one of the genre’s biggest and best voices who was taken from us far, far too soon. His hilarious, tack-sharp rhymes are complemented by the imaginative and dusty production of Philly’s Small Professor, who may just be rap’s best kept secret.”

Tracklist:

  • 01. Bear Witness (Intro) [feat. DJ Revolution]
  • 02. Refrigerator P (feat. Rockness Monstah & DJ Revolution)
  • 03. Latoya Jackson (feat. Quelle Chris & DJ Revolution)
  • 04. Midnight Rounds (feat. Elucid & Castle)
  • 05. P’s Theme (Interlude)
  • 06. John Gotti (feat. AG Da Coroner, Guilty Simpson & Your Old Droog)
  • 07. Think About It (feat. Illa Ghee, Rockness Monstah & DJ Revolution)

  • 09. John Gotti (feat. Reef the Lost Cauze, Curly Castro & Zilla Rocca) [Philly Blunt Remix]
  • 10. Refrigerator P (feat. Rob Kelly) [Peaky Blinders Remix]

Younger heads will appreciate Sean’s classic witty punchlines, wordplay and no-holds-barred hip hop ethic of brutal honesty, at times self-depreciating and always rugged, yet humorous. Veteran’s closer to the God’s age will delight in 80’s references and celebrated nomenclature. Every Hip Hop head will appreciate music that knocks. Salute Sean Price! Sean lives on! #RIP

MCMI REPORT

Bad Seed and Nottz are back with a collaborative album called No Way In Hell and the first single Sunday Morning ft DJ Total Eclipse has just hit the airwaves.

Bad Seed first teamed up with Nottz  to produce two Hip Hop classics in 1999 “For the Kids” and “Uhhnnh”, both of which did incredible sales for indie releases, the latter making it to Funk Flex 60 Minutes of Funk Vol IV: The Mixtape. After signing to a major (Warner) that then shelved their entire Hip Hop roster, Seed was sour to the industry for awhile, but released several notable independent albums over the years, remaining so-called “underground“, although some records such as Yankee Fitted featuring Mims and Talib Kweli off the album Intelligently Ignant, bubbled up slightly into the mainstream consciousness.

In 2016, Seed dropped Coreyography, which was set to be his last album, his farewell tour. After trying some acting, writing and directing, I think Seed was done with rap, perhaps feeling there was no way in hell he was going to drop another album. But the lead single “Belt Off” reunited Corey with Nottz and the results were amazing (video). The rekindling of their professional relationship led to this new producer/MC project No Way in Hell by SEED X NOTTZ.

For those unfamiliar with the Grammy Award winning producer’s work, Nottz has produced tracks for Busta Rhymes, the Notorious B.I.G, Fat Joe, Rah Digga, M.O.P, Exhibit, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, 50 Cent Method Man, Ghostface, Drake and Ne-yo just to name a few. He also works with more independent artists such as Krumbsnatcha, Apathy, Evidence and Sean Price. For his full discography, go here.

The first single off the project is “Sunday Morning” available now on Bandcamp. The Bad Seed hasn’t lost a step and Nottz beats are always bangin’ so we know this album is going to be tough!!

Let us know what you think of the track and the video and let us know, are you as amped as we are to hear this Seed X Nottz project? Also, what is your favorite Bad Seed or Nottz record? See you in the comments. Enjoy.

MCMI REPORT: LR BLITZKRIEG – IN THESE STREETS feat MR. LIVE & UG

LR BLITZKRIEG – IN THESE STREETS feat MR. LIVE & UG

LR BLITZKRIEG - IN THESE STREETS feat MR. LIVE & UG

MCMI’s LR Blitzkrieg is back with his second single/video, “In These Streets”, featuring hip hop veterans, Mr. Live and U.G. (Cella Dwellas), off his forthcoming project, “Outta Nowhere” TBA.

The track bangs with hard-hitting production by U.G. (aka P90X). Mr. Live’s sets it off with simultaneous humor and gun bars:

“John Smith..Bringin’ a long fif..a couple of broadswords and a Tec with the wrong grip..a 30 Odd six, right body, the wrong ditch..a nigga way off you can tell by the strong twitch…”

U.G. of Cella Dwella fame also kills it and let’s us know:

“It’s UG and Blitz, Wu-Tang ain’t the only ones NOT to F–k with!”

Blitz is the clean up hitter and packs so many hard hitting punches into his 16, I don’t want to give too much away, but one line that could sum up the intentions of his verse is:

“Learn young’, I burn somethin’, You earned nothin’, y’all Taxed the game too long and our Return’s comin’…”

The video shot and edited by Mic Handz of Soul Mazonz, is a mad dash through the streets of Brooklyn, as Blitz and his like-minded MC friends chase “Lil” and “Yung”, played by Qaasim and Khalil Middleton (of the group Juggernaut War Party, and of television’s The Get Down, The Naked Brothers Band and American Idol). At the end of the video, ‘Krieg catches the youngsters and hands them CD’s from Busta Rhymes, Sean P (#RIP) and PH (#RIP), to give them examples of what real hip hop is. Like a Marvel Studios after credits scene, there is footage of the two MC’s excitedly reciting parts of Busta’s “Show Me What You Got” off of the Anarchy album.

The single was supposed to drop in March, but Blitz decided to bless y’all with a present on his birthday and leaked it himself on February 6th. It is available on SoundcloudBandcampiTunes, Amazon and all digital outlets worldwide!

Enjoy!

Sean Price & Small Professor – “Refrigerator P”

Sean Price & Small Professor – “Refrigerator P” just dropped Black Friday aka Record Store Day 2017. “Refrigerator P,” a bruiser of a track from Philly producer Small Professor and the late, legendary Sean Price, released by Coalmine Records. To coincide with the single, Fat Beats will be releasing “Refrigerator P” on vinyl in honor of Record Store Day.

Sean Price & Small Professor - "Refrigerator P"

As soon as the track starts and you hear “P!” you know its on! Rockness Monsta on the hook, it’s almost a Heltah Skeltah joint. With DJ Revolution on the cuts, the song is tough.

Now available as a 10-Inch maxi-single which comes loaded with the instrumental and a special bonus beat selection called “P’s Theme.” Rounding out the release is the smoothed out “Peaky Blinders” remix of “Refrigerator P” featuring the Emerald Isle-born emcee, Rob Kelly. Listeners will no doubt attest that he holds his weight alongside P.

To make this RSD title even more of a collector’s item is the illustrated artwork designed by FRKO, perhaps best known for being Action Bronson’s in-house artist. These won’t last long, so order your copy today! “Refrigerator P” is also available for stream and download through the digital outlet of your choice.
