PROXY – LR BLITZKRIEG SINGLE + VIDEO RELEASE PARTY

JOIN US this Friday, October 20th, 2017, as we celebrate MCMI co-founder Rodney “LR BLITZKRIEG” Willie’s debut solo single and video release, of the song PROXY, off his much anticipated album #OuttaNowhere.

For those who don’t know, LR Blitzkrieg has been a part of the New York Hip Hop scene for years as part of the rap trio HYDRA and the legendary crew The PLAGUE. He is the co-founder of MCMI RECORDS, MCMI APPAREL and MCMIreport.com. He was also the best friend of the late great Robert “PH” Diaz (aka Pumpkinhead) and is Godfather to his children.

Having recently lost PH, several family members and other friends within the Hip Hop community (#ripPH, #ripJArch, #ripSeanPrice, #ripMajesty just to name a few), Blitzkrieg got to thinking about those who have left us suddenly, due to unknown health reasons, a tragic accident, or unjustly killed by police, “for no reason at all” and penned this song.

The video was shot in Las Vegas, in collaboration with HYDRA and friends and represents living your life to the fullest because you never know when your time is up. Come party with us on Friday, in #PROXY of all those who can’t be with us, because their life was cut short and help us celebrate life in their memory as well as celebrate this first single PROXY, off of LR Blitzkrieg’s debut solo record Outta Nowhere, which will drop “outta nowhere” sometime soon!

Friday Oct.20th 5:30-8:00 – Join the MCMI team at the release of LR Blitzkrieg‘s first solo single & video “PROXY“, at the best HIP HOP bar in New York city!

FAT BUDDHA – 212 Ave A New York, New York 10009

MUSIC – DJ DP ONE (Heavy Hitterz / Turntable Anihilists / The PLAGUE)

Come see the video, have some happy hour drinks, food and vibe to some new music!

MCMI REPORT: Stonebrown Studios Brooklyn – Remixed & Restyled

MCMI REPORT: Stonebrown Studios Brooklyn – Remixed & RestyledMCMI REPORT: Stonebrown Studios Brooklyn - Remixed & RestyledAt MCMI Records, we do most of our recording, mixing and mastering out of one studio. We have for years. The reason? We trust the ear, experience and skill of our chief engineer, Dennis Mitchell.

Dennis is an old school studio engineer who can build compression strips, microphones and mixing boards, make his own cables, build computers and set up speakers and soundproofing for optimum mixing. He’s been recording since AMPEX reels back in the day, but knows the latest hardware and software and is always up to date. Simply put, he is one of the best. Rockafella had Young Guru on the boards; MCMI has Dennis Mitchell.

MCMI REPORT: Stonebrown Studios Brooklyn - Remixed & Restyled

Paying his dues at the big studios like Firehouse, INS, Chung King, Electric Ladyland and others, Dennis tracked or mixed sessions for Das EFX, SWV, Wu-tang Clan and many other notable artists.

When Dennis set up his own studio, in an apartment in Park Slope, HYDRA went there. The location didn’t matter. Our mixes came out awesome, with balanced vocals, thumping kicks and punchy snares. His analogue compression modules, and knowledge of frequencies, and his ear (actually, both of them), created amazing results.

MCMI REPORT: Stonebrown Studios Brooklyn - Remixed & Restyled

When the studio relocated to 626 Carlton Avenue, in a bigger, dedicated, space (no longer his apartment), we set up shop and started working on out music from Hydra, PH (aka Pumpkinhead), Chordz Cordero, MrMecc, Archrival and other artists down with The Plague and MCMI. The sound was great, Dennis works fast and we got a lot done.

The only thing lacking in that studio was the vocal booth was tiny (could only hold one person) and even the mixing station was very small. Four or five people and you were packed in like sardines. Sill, a lot of artists recorded great music there, including … Young M.A, Lil Fame of M.O.P., Troy Ave and others.

In 2016, Dennis decided to expand the studio and take it to the next level. He tore down the walls, redid the ceilings and floors and even moved the heating system to create more space. Now the mixing room can accommodate a lot more people, the sound booth can hold a group of people, plus instruments and he has a nice lounge which doubles as a live room or Podcast/Radio show, when needed. Whether you sing, rap or are a DJ making a mixtape, you can record live, mix, have your tracks mastered, even apply autotune or melodine. Stonebrown does it all.

This Tuesday, March 28th, will be an OPEN HOUSE from 7pm – 10pm, for all artists, producers and DJ’s who want to come through, see the new look, play your music through their system and talk to Dennis about your projects’ needs. Special deals will be made, for those who attend. It costs nothing, but you MUST RSVP, to StoneBrownStudios (at) gmail, in order to attend. Once a certain number of people is reached, the list will close, but StoneBrown will be having producer listening sessions in the future, so there will be more opportunities.

Over a year ago we lost a true Legend in the game, Robert “PH” Diaz aka Pumpkinhead. His family lost a father, husband, brother, son, nephew and uncle.

At MCMI, we lost lost a best freind and business partner, President of A&R at the label and musical collaborator with our crew The PLAGUE. We have had vigils, concerts, memorials and tributes in his name – and there will be more – but what the WORLD has cried out for most has been his music!

MCMI REPORT: BAD SEED “BELT OFF” (prod. NOTTZ) off Final Album COREYOGRAPHY]

BAD SEED “BELT OFF” (prod. NOTTZ)

BAD SEED - BELT OFF prod NOTTZ

The Bad Seed first leapt on the scene in the late 90’s as part of Makin’ Records roster, (which included the late great Pumpkinhead #ripPH). He released a few underground singles solo and with O.B.S (Seed, PH, Magnum P), with guest appearances by Jean Grae and others, but it was after he put out the phenomenal records he did with the producer NOTTZ, that Bad Seed started to garner acclaim and recognition as a major part of the East Coast Hip Hop movement. Those first few records included “Uhhnnh,” “Would You Luh Me?” and “For The Kids.”

uhhnnh bad seedFor the kides bad seed

With placements on both Funk Flex’s “The Mix Tape, Vol. IV” in 2000 and DJ Kay Slay’s “The Streetsweeper Vol. 2” in 2004, Seed continued to put out self-produced mixtapes, drop albums on independent labels and make recordings with the Plague, all of which gained him a strong rep for quality music. When his close friend Mims made a splash with the hit record “This Is Why I’m Hot,” in 2007, Seed went on tour with him, supporting him as hype man and opening act. This is how Seed was able to release several dope independent products over the years, keeping his name out there, putting in consistently good work.

Then couple of years ago, Bad Seed, also known as Corey Pierson started acting in some online and straight to DVD movies, which he then was inspired to also write and direct. You can check out two of his film projects the Book of Job web movie and Thin Black Line (about police brutality and corruption), which actually got a theatrical release in upstate NY.

In 2015, the passing of his long time friend and former musical collaborator, PH, inspired Corey to pick up his mic once again and finish his long awaited final Hip Hop album, Coreyography, executive produced by PH. The album has gems on it, including songs featuring PH, MIMS, MIC HANDZ, JERZEY and MR. SHA, with production by VES, TONE JONEZ, NY BANGERZ , MARCO POLO, DP, DR NO and WILL TELL, but first out of the gate is this banger produced by NOTTZ!

Disrespect I won’t tolerate or deal with
Especially if them muthafuckers still kids
I ain’t ya age lil nigga go do ya homework
I was bangin when niggas was wearin long shirts
I was whylin when niggas was really on turfs
Yep, when snitchin get ya sister and ya mom murked
I ain’t ya peer lil nigga go get ya daddy
He dont wanna fight he talkin ’bout ADD ME
Puttin it out there
It is what it is
Tell shorty respect his elders cuz i beat people’s kids!

Being a seasoned veteran, Seed takes shots at the disrespectful, talent lacking, younger generation, not of MC’s or artists, but just kids in general these days. He let’s them know, if they get outta line, the belt is coming off!! Lol. Hardcore with a wry sense of humor is what Seed was always known for and this project does deliver.  Full Album set to drop July 8, 2016.

MCMI REPORT: Tribute to Robert PH Diaz at Park Slope’s FABULOUS 5th AVENUE FAIR, 5/15/16

MCMI REPORT: Tribute to Robert PH Diaz at Park Slope’s FABULOUS 5th AVENUE FAIR

MCMI REPORT: Tribute to Robert PH Diaz at Park Slope's FABULOUS 5th AVENUE FAIR

Rapper Wordsworth of EMC pays homage to his friend PH, on the corner of 5th Ave & Robert PH Diaz Way.

The late great rapper Robert “PH” Diaz aka Pumpkinhead, who passed away less than a  year ago from gall-bladder related health problems, represented Park Slope, Brooklyn, all his life. Even when he migrated to Staten Island and New Jersey, he always claimed Park Slope as his home, often shouting out the formerly socio-economically mixed neighborhood, that in recent times has become more and more gentrified, in his music. Then in the early 2000’s PH did a mixtape series (Park Slope Rennaisance Vol. 1 & 2) and had a song called Park Slope on his Beautiful Mind EP (Third Earth Music). PH visited his hometown often, doing shows, parties and charity events at the now closed Southpaw, Voodoo Lounge and SRB (now Analog). And shortly before his ultimate departure, Robert returned to Park Slope one last time, with his two sons, to show them the block “where daddy grew up”.

So it is extremely fitting for that block on De Graw Street, between 4th & 5th Avenue, to be co-named “Robert PH Diaz Way“. And it is also fitting that this year’s FABULOUS 5th AVENUE FAIR in Park Slope, will include a Musical Tribute to PH aka PUMPKINHEAD, on the corner of 3rd St & 5th Avenue, beginning at 1pm. DJ GMS will play a set of PH’s best music, including songs about Park Slope. There will also be guest performances by MCMI Artists and friends, including HYDRA (Keith WildChild Middleton, GMS & LR Blitzkrieg), Chordz Cordero, the MarXman, Qaasim & Khalil Middleton, Mic Handz and Jay Lonzo. The first time Pumpkinhead, GMS, LR Blitzkrieg & Keith WildChild ever performed together was at the FABULOUS 5th AVENUE FAIR in the 90’s when they were just teenagers. The friends would go on to found the crew The Plague and later form the brand MCMI.

MCMI REPORT: Tribute to Robert PH Diaz

The DJ Booth will be set up in front of The Gate on 3rd Street. The party will start off with classic dance music brought to you by Baby Loves Disco, with DJ MIKEY PALMS and Mr. Metaphor from Brooklyn Academy on the mic, from 11:30 – 1pm. The MCMI / PH Tribute set will go from 1 to 3pm, followed by DJ TOP SPEED, who will play classics honoring David Bowie, Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest & Prince, until the fair is over. Classic PH albums & mixtapes, tee shirts, posters and other collectibles will be available behind the DJ booth.

So come out to Park Slope this Sunday, enjoy the fair, check out the music on the corner of 3rd Street and you can also walk down 5th Avenue and take a pic under the newly unveiled street sign on the corner of De Graw St & 5th Ave, as we continue to “Rock Rock On …”.
