Kid Vishus ft Royce the 5’9 – Go Off (free single download)

Kid Vishus ft Royce the 5’9 – Go Off

The Detroit Lyricists show Brotherly Love

Straight out of Detroit, lyrical wordsmith Kid Vishis teams up with his brother, Royce 5’9 (from Slaughterhouse and Prhyme).Kid Vishus ft Royce the 5’9 – Go Off, produced by Foulmouth, is the second single off of Vishis’ release “The Purge” that dropped two weeks ago on 22 Entertainment/Orchard/Sony.

Kid Vishus ft Royce the 5'9 - Go Off

Fans of MCMI might remember when Vishis did a collab with PH on his 2011 release This Ain’t What You Want, also featuring Marv Won, off his album Know The Ledge. As you can see, Kid Vishis is definitely a force of his own to be reckoned with, all Royce aside. Nevertheless, it’s dope to get a brotherly collab from the two from time to time, the ‘Big Daddy Kane, Lil Daddy Shane overdoers’, if you get my reference.

MCMI RECORDS: Chordz Cordero & Sir Manley present The HighBred LP [Full Album]

MCMI RECORDS: Chordz Cordero & Sir Manley present The HighBred LP

The “HighBred” consists of two MC’s, Chordz Cordero (Jamaica Queens, NY) and Sir Manley (Muskegon, MI). The HighBred LP is their first project presented to the world, a joint effort from Intaphaze Records, Man@Work Productions and MCMI Records. The LP brings you back to a time where music was simple: good music, good lyrics, good choruses. What more could you ask for?

Sir Manley (left) & Chordz Cordero (right) are “HighBred”

The best way to describe the album is Soul + Hip-Hop, something the group likes to call “Soul Hop. On it, Sir Manley and Chordz Cordero trade verses, while Chordz and a few guest artists sing beautifully on the hooks. The beats and music, provided by Boonie Mayfield are soulful Boom Bap, while the lyrical content can be described as truthful and poetic, yet still gritty and hardcore, and at times spiritual or soul searching, as the duo explore topics such as life, love and the struggle to remain original, in an era of clones.

Besides Chordz, Manley and Boonie Mayfield, the album is blessed with supporting artists who really add something to the project, such as Zo’ Kimoni, Venson Dix, Passionate Poet, Che’ V, Mickey Wallace, Trademark Massey and J’Mel Lu, the last of whom also did all the editing for their two videos thus far, How I See It, Original (We Remain) and is working on The Ride ft. Zo’ Kimoni, which is set to drop next. With three teams behind the project, Intaphaze, Man@Work and MCMI, the HighBred LP is gathering considerable buzz.

This song is just a sample of previously unreleased material that will be released on MCMI Records in the coming year from the legendary MC, Plague co-founder and former President of A&R at MCMI Records, who was actually responsible for bringing the label in on this project, right before his tragic passing.

The HighBred LP is available on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, can be found on Spotify, Shazaam and all digital outlets. CD’s will be available soon.

The cover art looks dope and here is the Tracklist as well. I am really looking forward to this. They are calling this a “mixtape”, but it’s really an album of dope original material that just isn’t on a “major” label. %$#@ a label, that sh*t is hot! Peep.

MURS – Varsity Blues

MURS

I met up with MURS recently, at a show at Public Assembly, in Brooklyn. Me and the homie PH blessed him with some official MCMI  APPAREL shirts and we chatted for a few. He’s a cool guy, and he definitely takes his music seriously, plus, he has something to say. We were chillin’ that night, but we definitely will hook up with him for a full Interview in the near future.

Meanwhile, here is the title track/video of the new six song EP Varsity Blues 2, now available on iTunes. The video was directed by Darryl Richardson. Production by Aesop Rock. The original Varsity Blues came out in 2002. Besides Aesop, this one has production by Terrace Martin, Issue, Foundnation, Karl Berringer, and Droop-E.
