PH - HOLLYWOOD & COUNTY OF KINGS covers

Sparked by his leak of the song “HOLLYWOOD” and the official single “COUNTY OF KINGS”, PH’s buzz is heating up. Come listen to his Street LP “KNOW THE LEDGE” the day before it drops to find out why.

PH in MIAMI
The Brooklyn born lyricist PH (formerly known as “Pumpkinhead”) has always been an artist of integrity, respected by his vast following throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia. His ability to persevere in a hostile industry climate with no major label or industry co-sign is what has prompted many to hail him as the “Underground King” for years … (more…)

Police brutality at Smif-N-Wessun/Pete Rock release party

monumental smif-n-wessun pete rock
Last night at Tammany Hall in New York City, Smif-N-Wessun and Pete Rock celebrated their critically acclaimed collaborative album “Monumental” on Duck Down Records. Word is the concert was going great with fans and celebrities enjoying the good vibes, music and success of another true hip-hop project, but the venue was over crowded and at some point during the night a fight broke out outside the venue. At this time NYC police decided for no good reason to storm the venue and aggressively toss everyone out into the streets. Once the rightfully aggravated party goers were outside all hell broke loose as the NYPD violently attacked artist and patrons alike.

Da Beatminerz Discuss Pete Rock & Smif-N-Wesson’s “MONUMENTAL”

If you have still not copped Pete Rock & Smif-N-Wesson’s “MONUMENTAL” – WTF R U WAITING 4?!? It’s a NO-BRAINER! You know the weight these two names hold. One is a seminal Hip Hop group from Brooklyn, who spawned classics as part of the Bootcamp Click / Duck Down Records movement. The other is often fondly referred to as one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time – AND he can spit, too!

But wait, perhaps you are too young to know about SMIF-N-WESSON’s “The Shining”. Maybe you were a toddler when Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s classic “Mecca & The Soul Brother” first dropped. I don’t care. John Lennon was dead by the time I started listening to music, but I still knew the music of the Beatles, Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix. Bird was long gone by the time I came into this world, but if I am a Jazz fan I have to know who Charlie Parker is.

Now imagine back in the day Jimi Hendrix had decided to produce a Led Zepplin album. That’s what this collaboration is to Hip Hop. MONUMENTAL.

Production duo Da Beatminerz (DJ EVIL DEE and MR. WALT), who are not too shabby themsleves, discuss what the collab album between PR and SNW means to them.
