What more can be said about this legendary MC, friend, father and true artist, who did a lot for Hip Hop, fellow artists and the battle rap game that hasn’t been said already? The friends and family of PH aka PUMPKINHEAD have dedicated ourselves to keeping his legacy alive, musically and in support of his seeds. The events are packed with great music from incredible artists, but are also a great time to reconnect with fam, remember PH and toast to those who are gone but not forgotten, as many good brothers and sisters have transcended in recent years.

PH MEMORIAL SHOW: Immortal Technique, Apathy, Dwellas, Nems, DNA, Charlie Clips

Salute to EVERYBODY on the bill (and those not on the bill), because everyone is donating their time whether promoting, working the event or performing onstage. Previous memorial shows featured a gazillion artists, who were all PH’s friends and musical collaborators, but with so many on the stage each artist got very little shine in the few minutes allotted. This year we scaled it back a bit, so that the line up will not be the same every show and the artists have more time to pay homage with their musical renditions.

Shouts to Doc Ahk who did much of the legwork, booking and promotions, the flyer itself and is one of the best event promoters and stage managers in New York. The show is going to be incredible – of course. IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE will inspire, motivate and incite. APATHY joining us is a new treat. The CELLA DWELLAS are definitely a hometown favorite. While notorious for their battle rap careers, this is an awesome opportunity to hear artists like NEMS, DNA, CHARLIE CLIPS and Team HOMI flex their material, a countermeasure to the mumble rap music movement (YOU WILL HEAR ACTUAL WORDS! LOL) and represents 100% REAL HIP HOP.

These will be available at the event – while supplies last!!

As for my crew, The PLAGUE? … hell yeah, we will do our thing! Not about to let anybody upstage us, LOL. The BAD SEED is rocking joints from his new project SEED x NOTTZ, produced by NOTTZ obviously and that is all I need to know. Seed with the verses, Nottz with the beats. Let’s go!

Me (GMS), Wild Child, LR Blitzkrieg, PackFM, MrMecc and Tonedeff, plus Poison Pen (who reps Team Homi, Stronghold and The Plague) and DJ DP ONE are coming with some classics, but also some brand new material, which has never been performed before. All in honor of our fallen champion, the Underground King, PH aka PUMPKINHEAD!

Other DJ’s ECLIPSE, TOSHI & JOE BODEGA will keep the party rockin’ before, after and in between sets and the whole night will be hosted by EOW (End of the Weak) so this night is going to be extra special!

MCMI REPORT: Bad Seed Drops Final Album ‘COREYOGRAPHY’

Bad Seed Drops Final Album 'COREYOGRAPHY'

Bad Seed Drops Final Album ‘COREYOGRAPHY’

After a brief hiatus from rap to work on some films and a web series, Corey Pierson, aka Bad Seed is back with what he calls one final album. Inspired by the loss of his close friend and crew member Robert PH Diaz last year, Seed decided to toss his hat int he ring one last time. This time it’s personal. Executive produced by PH, Bad Seed brings you COREYOGRAPHY.

The first single off the album is BELT OFF, produced by NOTTZ, for which a video will be dropping shortly. If that track is any indication, fans are not going to be disappointed by this new album. With beats by NottzMarco Polo, Will Tell and other dope producers, this is definitely one of his finest works.

After listening to an advance copy of the album, I have to say one of my personal favorite tracks is Are They OK, produced by Tone Jonez, about losing so many of our favorite artists recently, from Prince to Phife, and wondering about Sade, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Chaka Khan and other musical treasures. ‘Keep Bouncin‘, produced by Dr, No, is a tight ‘down the line‘ track, with Seed, Mic Handz and Mims, spittin’ bars over a hot beat.

Then there are concept songs ‘Django Unfiltered, about feeling like a slave to our 9 to 5, F*ck Cancer, about losing loved ones to the cursed disease. All in all it is a very well rounded album, giving us just the right balance meaningful content and hard beats and rhymes. At first because of the title, ‘Coreyography’, I thought it would be more autobiographical, but I see now, it actually touches on different things that Seed feels strongly about, different sides of Corey.

In the song ‘5 Minutes’, Seed airs out his feelings about the old Makin’ Records crew, which had differences and went their separate ways long ago. He references “307”, meaning 307 Clinton, which was the old Makin’ headquarters, in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Half way through the song, the beat changes and the late great PH drops some poignant lyrics, mentioning Makin’ Records and his transition to partner in MCMI Records, years later.

The album drops July 8th, on all digital outlets…iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon – all the usual suspects. The single is available on those outlets as well.

Check out the interview below.

BAD SEED - BELT OFF prod NOTTZ

The Bad Seed first leapt on the scene in the late 90’s as part of Makin’ Records roster, (which included the late great Pumpkinhead #ripPH). He released a few underground singles solo and with O.B.S (Seed, PH, Magnum P), with guest appearances by Jean Grae and others, but it was after he put out the phenomenal records he did with the producer NOTTZ, that Bad Seed started to garner acclaim and recognition as a major part of the East Coast Hip Hop movement. Those first few records included “Uhhnnh,” “Would You Luh Me?” and “For The Kids.”

With placements on both Funk Flex’s “The Mix Tape, Vol. IV” in 2000 and DJ Kay Slay’s “The Streetsweeper Vol. 2” in 2004, Seed continued to put out self-produced mixtapes, drop albums on independent labels and make recordings with the Plague, all of which gained him a strong rep for quality music. When his close friend Mims made a splash with the hit record “This Is Why I’m Hot,” in 2007, Seed went on tour with him, supporting him as hype man and opening act. This is how Seed was able to release several dope independent products over the years, keeping his name out there, putting in consistently good work.

Then couple of years ago, Bad Seed, also known as Corey Pierson started acting in some online and straight to DVD movies, which he then was inspired to also write and direct. You can check out two of his film projects the Book of Job web movie and Thin Black Line (about police brutality and corruption), which actually got a theatrical release in upstate NY.

In 2015, the passing of his long time friend and former musical collaborator, PH, inspired Corey to pick up his mic once again and finish his long awaited final Hip Hop album, Coreyography, executive produced by PH. The album has gems on it, including songs featuring PH, MIMS, MIC HANDZ, JERZEY and MR. SHA, with production by VES, TONE JONEZ, NY BANGERZ , MARCO POLO, DP, DR NO and WILL TELL, but first out of the gate is this banger produced by NOTTZ!

Disrespect I won’t tolerate or deal with
Especially if them muthafuckers still kids
I ain’t ya age lil nigga go do ya homework
I was bangin when niggas was wearin long shirts
I was whylin when niggas was really on turfs
Yep, when snitchin get ya sister and ya mom murked
I ain’t ya peer lil nigga go get ya daddy
He dont wanna fight he talkin ’bout ADD ME
Puttin it out there
It is what it is
Tell shorty respect his elders cuz i beat people’s kids!

Being a seasoned veteran, Seed takes shots at the disrespectful, talent lacking, younger generation, not of MC’s or artists, but just kids in general these days. He let’s them know, if they get outta line, the belt is coming off!! Lol. Hardcore with a wry sense of humor is what Seed was always known for and this project does deliver.  Full Album set to drop July 8, 2016.

MCMI REPORT: ALBUM REVIEW – KANYE WEST “THE LIFE OF PABLO”

ALBUM REVIEW – KANYE WEST “THE LIFE OF PABLO”

ALBUM REVIEW - KANYE WEST "THE LIFE OF PABLO"

“Ya man, not ya boy,” Corey ‘Bad Seed’ Pierson is back. This time with an honest album review of Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo”. If you are like me, you can’t waste your valuable time on an album, just because of media hype or the artists self-proclaimed ‘greatness’.

Well, Seed’s approach is both real and helpful, neither hating, nor hero worship, as some reviewers tend to be. This helped me listen to  the album without expectations based on what some PR person wrote, that was copied and pasted into a thousand blogs all over the Internet.

You want an honest review, from a down to earth dude who grew up on Hip Hop and is going to keep it real with you? Here you go.

Thanks Corey, we appreciate it.

MCMI RADIO: BAD SEED talks Thin Black Line & Police Brutality

Episode 1 – pt 1
MCMI RADIO: Real Hip Hop. Real Talk. Corey “BAD SEED” Pierson

For those who never knew about MCMI RADIO, it was launched Friday June 8th 2012, as part of the 6th Man Radio station (shout outs to Bad Seed), hosted on BlogTalkRadio. our first episode was MCMI RADIO: Real Hip Hop. MCMI REPORT: The Return of MCMI RADIO!

After a year of doing the talk show live almost every week, LR Blitzkrieg and myself just couldn’t keep it up. The show took a lot of work, preparing, setting up interviews, getting crates ready. We needed to dedicate more of our time to the record label and to other aspects of MCMI, so we stopped doing the show.

Well, almost three years later – WE ARE BACK, BABY! This time the show will not be live and will not be weekly. It is now hosted on the MCMI YouTube Channel (Subscribe), which has MUCH better sound quality than BlogTalkRadio and will drop from time to time, whenever we have a good interview or something to talk about.

MCMI REPORT: The Return of MCMI RADIO!

All of the previous BlogTalkRadio shows are archived and can be found on MCMIreport.com/radio-archives. That will be considered “Season 1”. The new shows on Youtube are “Season 2”. Some will be mostly audio, with photos and video clips inserted throughout. Others will be full video format. New music and videos will occasionally be featured between segments of talk.

The new shows will be alternately hosted by MCMI’s GMS, LR Blitzkrieg, Keith WildChild Middleton, MrMecc and other artists affiliated with MCMIreport.com and MCMI Records. So, subscribe, listen, like, comment, share and stay tuned!!!
