Chuck D, DMC, and 50cent are just a few MC’s who have taken their pen game to the next level, authoring a book. Now, it is Buckshot (of Black Moon/Duck Down Records) who drops knowledge, or should I say “COMMON KNOWLEDGY” a how-to book about working in the music industry.
Coney Island’s own FYL Prezident, NEMS enlists EOW vets Iron Solomon and Vanguard (Svengali Bros.) for this sample off the album PRESIDENT’S DAY (available on iTunes NOW!!!), which has been getting a lot of burn in my iPod lately. Although I have had it over a month, I got busy working on the site and really didn’t give it the full attention it deserves for awhile. This video reminded me (isn’t that what videos are for?) to give it a full listen. First reaction? This is Hip Hop. This is Brooklyn. (With a little assistance from Manhattan and Jerzey). Something from this album will probably make its way onto Brooklyn’s Finest Vol. 2, currently in the making, if not some new sh*t from Nems Guttah, C.I.’s finest.
Inspired by the classic B.I.G./Jay Z song of the same name, MCMIreport.com has released the promo mixtape “BROOKLYN’S FINEST Vol.1: This is Hip Hop. This is Brooklyn.”, a timeless mix showcasing the very best of Brooklyn bred hip hop and the boro’s vast array of anthems.
DP ONE (TURNTABLE ANIHILIST / HEAVY HITTERS / THE PLAGUE) and  GMS (MCMI / HYDRA / THE PLAGUE) seamlessly mix old school, new school, underground and mainstream, with a couple of exclusive remixes.
Exclusive HYDRA joint and DOWNLOAD LINK for the whole Mixtape after the jump.
Produced by MCMIreport.com, this episode sees the intoxicated giant reppin’ the hood (NA ROCK) along with fellow Brooklynite(CONEY ISLAND). Pen is heavily lifted (all puns intended, lol), as usual. With Blitzkrieg supplying the drinks. Torae is toasted and now you know what “getting drunk with Poison Pen” is all about. The man drinks. A lot. You go toe to toe with him, you may survive, but you will say some hilarious shit on camera, for all of our amusement. Torae is a good sport. We all had a blast that night.
Shout out to Forbidden City, which closed down for awhile and reopened as the new and improved “FAT BHUDDA”. Some paint, a new menu, same chef, but new menu, a real DJ booth (no more turntables on the bar!) and a nice sound system – the place rocks. Check it out on a Saturday night. Order the duck, the ribs or the honey ginger wings (kitchen open late). Tell them GMS sent you. (It wont get you anything but a weird look, lol, but represent, fam!).
