Statik Selektah f/ Royce Da 5’9” – “Crystal Clear”

Today, via a premiere with Rapradar, Statik Selektah leaked a new track, “Crystal Clear,” which features Royce Da 5’9.  “Crystal Clear” can be found on Statik’s upcoming album, Lucky 7, which will be released 7-7-15 on Showoff Records/Duck Down Music.

Statik Selektah’s Lucky 7 features a star-studded line-up with original songs from: Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$, Big K.R.I.T, Royce Da 5’ 9,” Ab-Soul, Bun B, Styles P, Elle Varner, Talib Kweli, Sean Price, Bodega Bamz, Your Old Droog, Rapsody, Dave East, Mick Jenkins, Smif N Wessun, Young M.A, Buckshot, Skyzoo, A$AP Twelvyy, Kirk Knight, CJ Fly, Termanology & more. The album also features comedic interludes throughout by Hannibal Buress.

When the Slaughterhouse is away, the solo members will play. And with Joell running his Humans collab with Illmind, the big bad wolf of the west known as KXNG Crooked is out here with Truth Ali for Ashamed.

Don’t Close Your Eyes (Ashamed Remix)” was put together by producer Jonathan Hay, Mike Smith & King Tech, who decided to pay tribute to the late singer Keith Whitley who would have turned 60 years old this week. This is the mashup/remix of Keith Whitley’s 1988 single “Don’t Close Your Eyes” alongside verses from KXNG Crooked of Slaughterhouse and Truth Ali.

The official video for the “Ashamed” (Remix) will be premiered later on this month, but check out the behind the scenes video with KXNG Crooked and company that has special cameos throughout.

KXNG Crooked and Truth Ali’s “Ashamed” (Remix) will appear on The Urban Hitchcock album which will be released on 8-4-15.

Lil Piggies is about Joell addressing the other side of the music and him staying true to himself. “I’m beyond tired of all the politics, rappers with their gimmicks, and following trends,” says Joell, “Every now and again you have to remind people that it all starts and ends with rapping well. Well at least to me and my fans it does.”

Jarren Benton revists loss in powerful “Silence” [video]

Funk Volume’s Jarren Benton revisits his Slow Motion EP with the Jesse Ray Diamond-directed video for the projects closing track, “Silence.”  Produced by Kato, the personal track features a solemn hook by Sareena Dominguez as a dedication to Benton’s friend/manager Jahmal “Slow Motion” Pryor who passed away in 2013.

In January, the 2014 XXL Freshman class “People’s Choice” winner released the eight-track Slow Motion EP which featured appearances from Jon Connor¡Mayday!Rock CitySy Ari Da KidHemiSareena Dominguez and Funk Volume family HopsinDizzy Wright and SwizZz.
